Quick Shift designated these connectors as the late style. Please carefully look at the pictures of the cart and the actual connectors. This box will work with other transmissions, but will require a different wiring harness. So I would have needed to switch to a diesel transmission and I didn’t like that idea. I found that the gas torque converter had too high of a stall speed. The primary reason for the change was that my truck was originally a 5.4 gas. The perfect accessory for the most demanding Ducati fans who refuse to renounce maximum performance and love braking deep into corners. Quickshifters are becoming more common as a base feature, autoblippers are still. A standard quickshifter acts by cutting ignition, autoblipper for downshifts is slightly more complicated because it needs to add fuel between gears. It allows shifting gears up and down without using the clutch and without reducing the throttle, thus increasing the speed of acceleration and deceleration of the bike.

In manual mode you toggle the OD on/off as desired with the foot switch, but you have to remember to turn it off well before coming to a stop due to clutch wear issues. The transmission shifts beautifully and the GV kicks on automatically at ~47 MPH and off again around 30 MPH. The 10" converter flashes at 3200 RPM with the slightly warm 351W and doesn't have the "mush" of the old locally procured 3500 RPM converter. The improvements are noticeable in operation. This is great if you're using, or plan to use, an aftermarket shifter. The PA Super Comp ships with a "cut" shift lever, which has all the stock extensions cut off.

Plug the other end of each cable to ignition power (should be cold while cranking), ground, toggle switch, manual switch, signal generator and solenoid. I tried both signal generators and neither worked in that fashion, so I had to use both.Īs for wiring, the GV comes with wiring already terminated for plugging into the control box, as well as the switches for operation. The other issue I had concerned my attempt to use a single signal generator for both the GV and my electric speedometer by tying both devices into a one signal generator. They offer two different products, the QSX Quickshifter and the Intellishift. Their systems are designed to be plug and play and have adjustable parameters. Bill Schmidt at PA was awesome about replying to lots of (stupid) questions and never kept me waiting for an answer. Translogic quickshifters are used in motorcycle racing championships around the world, including MotoGP, British Superbike and World Endurance. The tight fit is intentional and requires freezing the shaft overnight and using a mallet and some lube to get the shaft seated in the converter. I ran into a couple minor snags in the process, one being the virtual interference fit of the PA hardened input shaft with the converter.
